Moving on to New Challenges Soon

Tue Nov 3, 2009, 4:13 PM
Hi All,
Just updating-

I'm in the middle of a CRAZY semester at school, so you can expect to see some animation landing on my page around mid-december.

I have roughly a year left of classes after this semester and I'm narrowing in on what it is I would like to do. I'm going to school for animation, which I love, but I think I'm destined for story and concept. Animation is the bees knees, don't get me wrong, but I can get lost in design and storyboards for hours on end and when I come to I feel like its only been 20 minutes. However, we're FINALLY getting to the good stuff in animation- character animation- so we'll see how that goes. I started my first facial animation yesterday and while it was difficult I really enjoyed it. Maybe I'll end up animating after all... after many, many years of dreaded clean-up and inbetweens, yikes.

In other news, I'm turning over a new leaf. My posts will be less busty and pin-upy for a bit, I think. I need to expand my horizons. I hope you will all still appreciate my art even without the cleavage and curves, haha- I know my views suffer when the characters aren't as curvalicious but I'm also getting better at my draftsmanship and composition so maybe you'll still like my men, too.
Also, I'm not sure what's happening over my winter break, but I will likely open commissions again. There will be a post regarding that in the future.
Hope you're all well! Have a great week, guys!

Any Voice Actresses or good Shriekers Out There?

Fri Oct 2, 2009, 4:57 PM
Hey gals,
I'm looking for for someone to do a few shrieks and a bit of comical struggle sounds for an animation I am doing. The bit is a young African American woman, but ethnicity is unimportant for the voice actress. I'll be looking for a shriek along time lines of Tiana's in the trailer's for Disney's Princess and the Frog, but any surprised shriek is great.
If you have the time to shoot a few my way let me know and I'll give you more details and a list of what would be helpful for my animation.
You would be given acknowledgment in the credits.
Please feel free to contact me in the Journal, via Note, or at Sarah.Harkey@loop.colum.edu
Thanks guys!

Can Anyone Recommend Some >2 min 2D Animations?

Fri Sep 18, 2009, 6:01 PM
Hey Guys-
I wanted to know if any of you could recommend some 2D animated shorts (new or old) that are about 2 minutes long or less. I am looking for one that I am unfamiliar with for a short presentation/paper for one of my animation classes. Plus, its always great to see new stuff!
I would prefer anything dealing with sadness/death or with dogs, but anything (comical, abstract, etc) that you find interesting is more than welcome too. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!

Oh, and a P.S.- My 30K pageview should be happening soon, catch it with a screencap and get a free sketch :D

Score My 30K Pageview, Get a Free Sketch!

Tue Sep 8, 2009, 7:34 AM
Hey there,
I'm offering up a free sketch to whoever scores and screencaps my 30K pageview. If no one gets 30,000 I'll take the closest number AFTER 30,000.
The sketch can be of anything you want (within some tasteful limitations, of course) but will most likely be a headshot or bust, given that I am going back to school tomorrow and will be super busy this semester. But hey, you never know, maybe I'll find time to do more than a bust.
I plan to do this again at 50K, which may take awhile, so get it while its hot!
