My second entry in the PiNKiTUDE contest. Breast cancer is about strength, beauty, and awareness. I've tried to reflect femininity, beauty, intelligence, grace, and boldness in this speed-painting. I would like to dedicate this piece to those in my life who have battled with breast cancer, and to extend assurance to those still battling that it CAN be won, and that there are millions of people out there willing to help in any way that they can. Its actually a self portrait. For some reason I would be mortified to post a photo of myself in my skivvies, but this is a little less horrifying to me. All in all though, I feel that making a self portrait and exposing myself like this is very much part of my artistic statement in the piece about the feeling of being exposed and vulnerable when dealing with breast cancer, but also the importance of feeling bold and beautiful.
I like this one a lot better. It actually struck out at me as I was browsing the submissions - didn't even know it was yours. lol.
I know she isn't any less naked than the last one but, this one doesn't look like she's trying to strip or "be sexy" - or drum up sex appeal (because we all know there is much more to a woman than boobies and the va-jay-jay - lol, sorry I can't resist that word). She just IS. Because she is bold and sassy - her expression depicts that wonderfully (I adore the expression). She's a woman, she's strong, she can face anything and come out with a smile. She might as well be in the most unflattering outfit ever because she is still herself - not a deer in the headlights - and she'd still be just as vibrant, just as sexy, and just as much a woman.
I especially like how she is gray but her bra is pink. I think that adds to a feel of femininity while subtly underlining the overall theme and purpose of the image.
She looks like a fun person, who can take on an army if she has to. She looks like the type of person most women want to be, strive to be, and that all women have hidden deep inside just waiting to come out.
And I would like to add that the way that you "exposed" yourself, really does infuse a lot of heart-felt meaning to this piece. She'd not just anybody, she's YOU.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
